Founder & Principal

Matthew Vorderstrasse, M.A., PHM

Matthew Vorderstrasse is a nonprofit leader, strategist, and coach with over 20 years of experience supporting mission-driven organizations across Oregon and beyond. He currently serves as the Executive Director of a Public Housing Authority and is a Certified Public Housing Manager (PHM), leading complex housing, development, and service systems in partnership with local governments, state agencies, and community organizations.

Throughout his career, Matthew has founded and helped stand up multiple nonprofit organizations, guiding them from concept through formation, early funding, and operational maturity. He has also raised and leveraged over a hundred million dollars into Southern Oregon and other regions, supporting affordable housing development, homelessness response, and community-based initiatives.

Matthew is the architect of the SPARC framework (Service Providers and Regional Connections), a systems-based model designed to align outreach, shelter, housing, services, and funding into a coordinated continuum of care. SPARC has been actively developed and implemented on Oregon’s South Coast and serves as a scalable model for rural and regional communities seeking sustainable solutions to homelessness and housing instability.

His work is grounded in real-world practice. Matthew specializes in strategic planning, fundraising, organizational development, and executive coaching, with a focus on clarity, alignment, and long-term sustainability. His perspective is shaped by daily leadership in highly regulated environments where compliance, operations, funding, and community impact must align.

Through Pathfinder Collective, Matthew brings decades of hands-on experience into a family-led practice designed to support leaders, strengthen organizations, and help communities build systems that last.

Admin and Principle

Marchand Vorderstrasse

Marchand Vorderstrasse is a nonprofit practitioner and program leader with deep experience in frontline service delivery, program development, event planning, and management. She holds formal education in Human Services and Criminal Justice, which shapes her people-centered, systems-aware approach to community work.

In addition to her work with Pathfinder Collective, Marchand directs the Mobile Outreach Program for the Salvation Army Coos Bay Corps, overseeing frontline outreach efforts that connect individuals experiencing homelessness with services, resources, and pathways to stability. This role keeps her closely connected to on-the-ground realities and informs her practical, compassionate approach to systems-building and program design.

Pathfinder Collective was Marchand’s idea, born out of years of hands-on experience supporting organizations, building programs, and watching leaders struggle without practical guidance. Her vision was to create a family-led practice that shares hard-earned knowledge, supports people doing the work, and helps organizations build systems that function in the real world.

Over the course of her career, Marchand has worked directly with individuals and families while helping design and manage programs that are both effective and sustainable. She brings a strong operational lens to Pathfinder Collective’s work, bridging the gap between strategy and day-to-day execution.

Marchand also plays a key role in fundraising event planning and donor engagement, helping organizations translate their mission into experiences and stories that resonate with supporters. As a founding partner, she anchors the work in lived experience and shared values, raising her family alongside this work and reinforcing the belief that community impact is something built together and passed forward.
